What We Believe

The most important question one can ask a church is “What do you believe? Our congregation most identifies with the Biblical beliefs of early Baptists (The Baptist Confession Of Faith of 1689)

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the only absolute truth.

We believe that God is one God in three persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all men are sinners by their nature and their acts, deserving God’s wrath.  All men are unable to save themselves from God’s wrath by good works and are unable to change themselves without God’s work in their hearts.

We believe that God saves men from beginning to end by His Sovereign Grace, none deserving mercy more than any other.  Repentance and faith are God’s gracious gifts to His chosen people.

We believe that Jesus Christ died to save His people from their sins and that He will not lose any.  All men, without exception or distinction, are to be outwardly called to come to Christ for salvation.

We believe that God works first in all He saves and draws them to Himself by His Spirit, giving them repentance and faith in Christ in the new birth. Upon repenting from sins and submitting to Christ as Lord, God forgives sin, grants eternal life, and cares for His children.

We believe that all whom God saves will be preserved by God’s power to the end of their life.  Also, all whom God preserves will persevere in Christ to the end, bearing the fruit of repentance and faith with a godly life.

“our message”

Our message is that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead to save every sinner who believes in Him.

Here is a summary of what the Bible teaches:

In the beginning, God created us to be in a relationship of union and friendship with Him, which means we owe Him our highest love and loyalty.

The bad news is that we rebelled against God, broke His good laws, and turned away from Him, chasing after created things rather than God Himself. We broke our relationship with God and therefore deserve His just anger, judgment, and death.  That’s why we are all dying.  God would be perfectly just to leave us all to die in our sins and consign us to an eternal hell.

But there is good news!  God mercifully looked down from heaven upon our sinful humanity, and with perfect compassion and love in His heart, chose to make a way for sinners to be saved from sin and death and to have the free gift of abundant life now and forever.

In eternity past, God graciously made a covenant with His Son about the salvation of sinners.  At the right time, God sent Jesus into the world to fulfill the terms of that eternal covenant.  In willing obedience to His Father, Jesus perfectly obeyed all of God’s laws, died on the cross for poor sinners like and you me, and on the third day, He arose from the dead, having conquered death.  Jesus died so that we do not have to die.  He paid the penalty of our sins to reconcile us to God, and He rose from the dead, having purchased eternal life for His people.

The Bible says that Christ comes to you with grace, forgiveness, and life in His hands, and warmly invites you to Himself.  He is a friend of sinners.  He didn’t come into this world to save the righteous, but sinners.  It’s not the healthy who need a physician but the sick.  So, if you know you are a soul sick sinner, and if you trust Jesus to reconcile you to God and rule your life, you will certainly enjoy true life right now, and eternal life in heaven with God.

The Bible also teaches that one day the Lord Jesus Christ will return from heaven to establish a perfect kingdom on earth, where he will rule with perfect love over His people.  One day in the future, this world will be a wonderful place of friendship and unity with God with our fellow human beings, where we will enjoy Him and one another forever and ever.

Are you tired of your rebellion against God and of your love for things that can never make you happy?  Are you weary of your guilt and shame?  Do you want to be reconciled to God and no longer be an enemy of God, but a friend?  If so, then God has already been merciful to you.  He is already pouring out His grace upon you.  So, close with Christ.  Come to Jesus in faith, and you will live!  Trust in Him, and He will forgive you.  Rest in Him, and He will refresh you.  Turn from your sins and live in Him, and you will know true life, now and forever.  Jesus keeps all of His promises and will never disappoint.

If you come to faith in Jesus and repent of your sins, the Bible says you need to be baptized as a sign of God’s saving covenant and as a testimony of your faith to others.  You will also need to join a Bible teaching church where your faith will be strengthened in Christ and you will be able to express worship to God corporately with other Christians, just as He commands you to do.
